Please remember: Always use complete sentences for all your answers. These are samples – I may ask you some of these, or I may not, but if you learn them you will do well on your DBAs.

Module 1

Remember to use complete sentences in both Spanish and English (as needed)

When asked a question, remember to use the same verb used in the question.

Answer this set in English using complete sentences:

What is the capital of El Salvador?

What is the capital of Chile?

What is the capital of Argentina?

What is the capital of Colombia?

Why is it important to learn Spanish?

Spell your name in Spanish.

When would you use tú and usted in Spanish?

Which one is formal and which one is informal?

How would you answer if I ask you, ¿Dónde vives? (full answer, including zip code)

Remember, names of streets and cities do not need to be translated, but all numbers need to be in Spanish.

When asked a question, remember to use the same verb used in the question.

What does the word hora mean?

Say in Spanish, “My school’s name is ………………….”

Son las trece horas. What does this mean?

You are talking to a new amigo and he asks you ¿qué hora es? Tell him it’s 9:40 p.m. (using menos, 20 until 10, using 12 hour clock)

How do you say, it’s 8:20 AM, in Spanish?

You are en España and your profesor needs to know la hora. It’s 6:00 p.m. Remember to use the 24-hour clock.

What are some differences and similarities between schools in Spanish-speaking countries and schools in the United States? (in English)

 

Module 3

What is preferir?

What is querer?

What is usar?

Give me three examples of borrowed words from Spanish to English.

Give me three examples of borrowed words from English to Spanish.

What is the difference between gustar y encantar?

Ask me a question using preferir.

Tell your friend that the plate is on top of the table, and the cup is next to the fork.

What are some differences and similarities between the mealtime and restaurant practices between the U.S. and Spanish-speaking countries?

 

Module 4

When asked a question, remember to use the same verb used in the question.

¿Qué hay en tu dormitorio?

¿Qué hay en tu cocina?

¿Qué hay en tu sala?

¿Cuántos baños hay en tu casa?

Describe three pieces of furniture in your house using colors and adjectives (big, small, ugly, nice, etc.)

Using the verb “estar”, tell me where each piece of furniture is located. Example, the table is in the living room.

Describe your house. How many rooms, what color is it, is it big or small? General characteristics.
